ABOUT ABOUT

Please plan to join the Housing Committee this month as Janice Woodcock, AIA, joins us to talk about the Philadelphia Waterfront.

This talk, originally prepared for the BIA's Annual Builder's Conference last year, provides a selected history of the Philadelphia Waterfront from the early city to today, showing the influence of Philadelphia’s economy and government over time on the city’s buildings, streets and public spaces.  We will end with an overview of current developments, and take a look at the current regulatory climate.  In all, we will show how the waterfront is poised for great change - and a potentially bright future.

Janice Woodcock is an architect and planner with her own practice in Center City Philadelphia.  Her current work is rich mix of design for social impact, arts and culture, and small projects for residential, commercial, and non-profit clients.  She was head of the Philadelphia Planning Commission under the Street administration, chairing the zoning code rewrite and the city’s waterfront planning process during a critical time
