2030 Working Group Session: “Designing Effective Contracts for Energy Modeling””

By AIA Philadelphia (other events)

Monday, December 13 2021 5:30 PM 7:00 PM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

You’re invited to join the AIA Philadelphia Committee on the Environment to learn more about the 2030 Commitment, to share knowledge, and to improve practice. Architects have an important role to play in addressing the climate crisis. In Philadelphia, buildings alone contribute to more than 70% of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions. In Part 2 of the 2030 Working Group, we will focus on design strategies to reduce emissions, paving the road to net zero in 2030.

The learning objectives for this session are:
1. Participants will learn how to define clear goals for energy modeling in contracts.
2. Participants will understand the difference between prescriptive or performance-based design goals.
3. Participants will be able to compare building energy modeling (BEM) workflows for different building delivery methods; Design-4. Build, Design-Bid-Build, and Integrated Project Delivery.
4.Participants will learn how to evaluate qualifications for a BEM modeler.
