2030 WG Session: “Bioclimatic Design: A Driver for Energy Efficiency”

By AIA Philadelphia (other events)

Monday, April 12 2021 5:30 PM 7:00 PM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

You’re invited to join the AIA Philadelphia Committee on the Environment to learn more about the 2030 Commitment, to share knowledge, and to improve practice. Architects have an important role to play in addressing the climate crisis. In Philadelphia, buildings alone contribute to more than 70% of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions. In Part 3 of the 2030 Working Group, we will focus on leveraging environmental design analysis to simulate building performance and improve building design, paving the road to net zero in 2030.

Learning Objectives for this session include:
1. Describe how climate metrics influence design decisions.
2. Define bioclimatic design and explain how it can be a driver for energy efficiency.
3. Compare and contrast effective passive strategies for climate conditions.
4. Identify tools for studying climate conditions. (Climate consultant, ClimaStudio, Ladybug)
