This new amenity building provides tenant support spaces for the recently renovated Hamilton Court apartment complex, a 105-unit apartment building geared toward students attending the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Constructed in 1901, the apartment complex is comprised of seven attached buildings built around three sides of a central horseshoe-shaped courtyard. The new amenity building sits within this central courtyard.
In addition to two new ground floor retail spaces, the amenity building includes a gym, pool/hot tub, an activity terrace on the second level and a “sunning terrace” on the third level. The building is clad in a mixture of curtain wall and brick, with a faceted, perforated aluminum skin wrapping most of the second-floor spaces. This skin is supported by a galvanized sub-frame and is tied back to the primary steel structure located between the curtain wall supports.
The project is scheduled to complete construction in July 2018.
